HOURS OF WORK/SHIFT:
Full-time - 4 days on / 4 days off - 10 hour shifts (currently a term position - month to month, but likely to become permanent)
- Shifts include all of: 7am to 5pm, 11am to 9pm and 1pm to 11pm
Rotational shift work - includes days, evenings and weekends - averaging 35 to 40 hours per week
JOB SUMMARY:
As part of the Specialized Homes team, the Child and Youth Worker ensures the physical and emotional safety of the children and youth in our care.
The CYW works to support children and youth between the ages of 6 and 17 to achieve their goals through life-skill development, including in-home routines, pro-social/recreational programs, community outings, etc. Most importantly, the CYW ensures a safe, structured, stable and predictable home environment by following individual programs, routines, and working as a team.
WAGE: $
27.54 to $31.61 per hour, depending on education and experience. This position requires Union membership.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Education and Knowledge: 2-year Human/Social Service Diploma and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
2 years recent related experience
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS (provided to you at no cost):
A minimum of 3 reference checks, including most recent employer
Consolidated Criminal Record Check
Mandt certification (intervention, de-escalation, building healthy relationships)
TB Screening
WHMIS
Naloxone
First Aid (must have CPR component)
