Job type: Contract-Full-Time up to March 31, 2024, with the possibility of extension.
Closing Date: August 23, 2023 @ 4:30 PM
Salary: starting at $50,656 per annum
Reports to: Prevention Supervisor

What you will do in the role

  • Plan, participate and coordinate cultural, recreational, and social programming for the children and youth.
  • Provide children/youth with behavioral chal enges opportunities to positively engage in pro-social activities.
  • Provide case management to youth in need of individual support such as crisis intervention, dispute resolution
and other supportive intervention.
  • Monitor youth progress and cultural needs.
  • Provides information, referrals and fol ow-up services to children and youth.
  • Provide life skil s support and goal planning, including educational and job readiness.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date case files according to specified timelines and provides written reports as
requested.

What you bring to the table
  • Must have a Child and Youth Diploma, Social Services Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years\' experience working within a social services context, preferably with Indigenous
families.
  • Sound understanding of harm reduction, addictions, mental health, Indigenous healing practices and history,
developmental issues and high-risk situations faced by children and/or youth.
  • Understanding systemic barriers faced by youth and the ability to advocate within these systems.
  • Knowledge of individual, family, child, adolescent, and group behavior.
  • Knowledge of local community agencies and other professional services available
  • Wil ingness and ability to support both traditional and contemporary healing practices and experience in
working with Elders, Healers, and contemporary helpers.
  • Must have experience in counselling, case management, file maintenance and statistical reporting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and to elicit cooperation from others.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of competing and urgent demands.
  • Excellent intake assessment, crisis intervention, and advocacy skil s.
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical, problem solving, negotiating, decision making, planning, organizational,
administrative, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid \xe2\x80\x9cG\xe2\x80\x9d Ontario Driver\'s license, be willing to travel, able to work flexible hours.
  • Must produce clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • The ability to speak a native language is considered a major asset.
