Child And Youth Support Worker

Port Alberni, BC, CA, Canada

Job Description

www.SparklingLegacy.ca

Are you looking for a job where your efforts make a big impact for someone?

Do you wish for work that has a routine AND variety every day because you love to know what's coming but also get bored?

Do you have a passion for supporting neurodivergent children and their families?

Come join us as a Respite and Life Skills Worker, supporting neurodivergent families with their activities of daily living. This could include guided life skills, light personal care, helping them with neurodivergent life-hacks, and housekeeping to support the household.

It is a bonus to us if you have experience supporting autistic kids. If you're familiar with declarative language and know who Ross Greene is, we will definitely be a fit! We are neurodivergent-affirming and child-led.

• Our wages are competitive and we are a Living Wage Employer
• Flexible hours
• Flexible health benefits that part-timers can qualify for (24 hours/week!)
• A supportive team-oriented atmosphere where we welcome your ideas
• The opportunity to steer your own professional development- we are growing!

Successful applicants will bring these to the table:

• Proven ability to problem solve but not afraid to ask for help (you are given detailed care plans, but you need to be able to think in the moment to solve problems)
• A love for self-management in task flow and the ability/desire to work solo (we work primarily solo with clients in their homes)
• Physical ability to perform this (active) job- you'll often be chasing active kids
• Housekeeping experience and desire to clean (personally or professionally). Some of our clients are more house-help leaning, and at least 20% of your job will include housekeeping
• Ability to pass a vulnerable sector criminal record check
• Excellent professional references
• Access to your own reliable transportation and a clear driving record (this job has an element of driving involved; both to client sites, and sometimes transporting clients to and from activities)
• Above all else, your values must align with ours to be a successful fit. Children are people, and they deserve autonomy and choice. We also believe that all people do their best with the skills they have, and we assume lagging skills first, not lagging motivation. We champion children and we follow their lead.

The owner of the company is neurodivergent and it is considered a big bonus to us if you are too.

We receive many applications: please apply even if you've done so in the past, and please include a note as to why you'd like to work with us.

••Please do not apply if you do not drive/do not have access to a reliable vehicle••
