Your Opportunity:

This child and adolescent therapist position serves the communities of Vegreville and Two Hills Alberta. Reporting directly to the Care Manager or designate, the Mental Health Therapist Provincial will work collaboratively with Addiction and Mental Health staff, psychiatry, public health and school personnel to provide support to child and adolescent clients to address emotional, behavioural and mental health concerns. The service is delivered in multiple settings. This individual will value and appreciate collaboration and evidence-informed practices. The successful individual will demonstrate a high degree of independence and the ability to understand and navigate the potential complexities of working across different systems and working in 3 rural communities. This individual will have a proven positive track record of working with complex issues relating to the mental health of children, youth and/or families. Responsibilities include screening, consultation, assessment and treatment, teaching, and liaison with families, community service providers and school personnel. The role requires that the incumbent work independently as well as within a larger multidisciplinary team.

Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Master\'s degree in Psychology; or master\'s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master\'s or bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master\'s degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:

Masters Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Family Therapy, or related field. Completed license under the Health Professions Act. This position requires a vehicle for business use. Possession of a valid driver\'s license (no GDL) and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel is required. Preferred Qualifications:

3 Years post post-graduate experience working with children, youth, and families is considered an asset. Certification in Play Therapy, EMDR, or other trauma-related modalities is considered an asset. Experience working in a rural community mental health setting preferred.
