Child and Youth Mental Health Counsellor, Mental Health Outreach Team - Full-Time, Temporary 1 year term

Job Summary:

The position involves the provision of supportive mental health services to children and/or youth, and their families and/or caregivers in an outreach capacity. Services provided include mental health assessment, individual counselling, family work/mediation, crisis intervention, social skills training, psycho-educational training, advocacy and elements of case management.

Wage/Salary:

$38.68

Throughout CRD

Hours of Work:

35 hours; flexible hours, Monday through Friday, but may involve some evening and weekend work.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Demonstrated expertise across a wide array of child/youth mental health disorders Demonstrated knowledge of assessment, treatment modalities, case management, and crisis intervention skills Ability to consult and collaborate with medical and community professionals, agencies, schools, and other services Excellent written and oral communication and report writing

Education, Training, and Experience:

Undergraduate degree in Human Services, preferably Child and Youth Care or Social Work. A minimum of 3 years of experience working with high-risk children and youth and their families, with at least 2 years in a mental health setting. Thorough knowledge of community supports and services typically accessed by children, youth, and their families referred to the program

Additional Information:

This position provides services in a stressful environment, often dealing with crisis situations and requires conflict resolution skills. The use of a vehicle in good working order with business insurance and the ability to transport clients and/or children is required. Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA) certification required.
