Job Description

Position Summary



We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate

Child and Youth Care Worker

to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing care, support, and supervision to children and youth within our program. Your primary responsibility will be to help meet the basic needs of the youth, build meaningful relationships, and oversee daily activities in a structured and safe environment.

You must be comfortable working with youth ranging in age from

5 to 18 years old

, and be able to provide both one-on-one and group support. The role also requires

flexibility to work weekends, late evenings, and early mornings

as needed, as well as

willingness to travel between multiple program locations daily

to facilitate youth programming and activities.

Major Responsibilities



Administration



Complete accurate and timely written documentation including logbook entries, contact notes, incident reports, and medical binder updates. Coordinate service plans and collaborate with youth, staff, and management to ensure effective service delivery. Complete daily activity reports outlining the activities completed with youth.

Client Support



Provide client-centered, strength-based services in alignment with agency policies. Build collaborative and supportive relationships with youth, serving as a positive role model. Model life skills, social skills, communication skills, and conflict resolution strategies. Provide

one-on-one support

to youth, fostering meaningful connections and promoting personal growth. Facilitate daily and recreational activities, including taking youth out for

individual or group community activities for a few hours each day

.

Drive youth

to and from scheduled activities, appointments, and outings, ensuring their safety and engagement in community-based experiences.

Transportation and Outreach



Drive youth to and from community activities, appointments, and programs. Travel between multiple group home locations, including

Leduc, Mayfair, Londonderry, and Millbourne

areas. Ensure safe transportation at all times and maintain proper documentation of travel and activities.

Health and Safety



Ensure a safe and secure environment for both staff and youth. Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the unit and property. Educate youth on house rules and expectations, ensuring compliance and promoting personal responsibility. Adhere to all health, safety, and program policies and procedures.

Qualifications



2-3 years of hands-on experience working with children and youth, particularly those with diverse needs, including individuals with disabilities, medically fragile youth, or those with high behavioral needs. Strong understanding of child development and effective strategies for supporting children with a variety of learning and behavioral challenges. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement individualized care plans that promote positive outcomes for children with diverse needs. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to develop tailored approaches to support child and youth development. Excellent planning, organizational, and time-management skills. Flexible and open to change, with the ability to adapt to evolving program needs. A valid

driver's license

and

access to a reliable vehicle

(required). Must be able to provide a

clear Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check

and

Child Intervention Record Check.


Preferred Qualifications



Certification in Suicide Intervention and Crisis Intervention Prevention. Experience in residential programs and working with youth in care. Advanced training in behavior management and therapeutic techniques. Knowledge of

SMART Goals

and experience in writing monthly progress reports.

Additional Requirements
