About the Opportunity

The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is seeking to recruit clinical faculty with academic and teaching responsibilities in keeping with the expectations of the Dalhousie Department of Psychiatry Academic Funding Plan (AFP). Opportunities for leadership, continued professional development (CPD) and research are well supported.

Responsibilities

Faculty provide clinical care as part of the IWK Mental Health and Addictions Program. Psychiatric services are integrated within the program which includes community clinics, specialty clinics, intensive services, addiction services, forensic services, emergency psychiatric services and an acute psychiatry inpatient unit. The Faculty of the Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry work collaboratively and often flex capacity to ensure demands for child and adolescent psychiatric care are met. This allows faculty to enjoy working with a range of psychiatric presentations in children, youth, and their families in different settings (inpatient, emergency department, outpatient, intensive services). It also requires faculty to have a range of expertise, skills and comfort managing moderate to complex psychiatric illness presentations.

The current needs are in the areas of:

  • emergency child and adolescent psychiatry
  • outpatient child and adolescent psychiatry
The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Dalhousie University is one of the largest academic groups in Canada. The division provides teaching and research opportunities through its affiliation with the Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine.

Qualifications
  • Child and adolescent psychiatry qualifications and/or experience is required.
  • All applicants must be eligible for medical staff privileges with the IWK Health Centre and specialist licensure in psychiatry with the
(CPSNS).

Position is available July 1, 2023.
