The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall engineering and maintenance operations of our
dual-property complex
at Calgary Airport North. You will ensure the safe, efficient, and sustainable operation of all systems, plant, and equipment while maintaining compliance with
City of Calgary bylaws
,
Alberta provincial codes
, and
Canadian federal standards
.
As a key leader, you will manage a dedicated Engineering team, safeguard the hotel's assets, drive sustainability initiatives, and uphold Hilton Brand Standards -- all in support of delivering exceptional guest experiences. At
Hampton Inn, we call it Hamptonality. At Homewood Suites, it's Be At Home.

What Will I Be Doing?
Leadership & Operations
Lead the Engineering Team in daily operations, scheduling, training, and performance management.
Maintain and operate equipment at optimum effectiveness, efficiency, and safety.
Oversee and coordinate external contractors in compliance with service contracts, codes, and regulations.
Establish and manage an effective
preventive maintenance program
across rooms, public spaces, back-of-house, and building systems.

City of Calgary Fire & Building Safety Codes
Alberta Building Code (ABC)
&
Alberta Fire Code (AFC)
Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Act & Regulations
Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)

Act as
Chief Fire Warden
, maintaining emergency procedures and life safety systems.
Conduct regular inspections, maintain logs, and take corrective action to ensure compliance and a safe workplace.
Sustainability & Energy Management
Administer
energy and water conservation programs
; monitor utility usage and identify efficiency opportunities.
Support Hilton's
"Travel with Purpose"
sustainability program, aligning global commitments with local initiatives.
Recommend and implement environmentally responsible practices in operations.
Projects & Budgets
Manage departmental budgets and controllable expenses to meet or exceed targets.
Track inventory, tools, equipment, and supplies.
Coordinate capital projects and renovations, including tendering, cost evaluation, and contractor supervision.
Guest & Team Experience
Partner with Housekeeping, Front Office, and Food & Beverage to quickly resolve guest-impacting maintenance issues.
Coach and mentor team members, fostering a culture of accountability, service, and safety.

What Are We Looking For?
Education & Certifications
High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary technical training an asset.
4th Class Power Engineer Certificate preferred
(5th Class considered with strong experience).
Journeyman certification in
Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, or Mechanical
trade (Alberta-certified).
Pool Operator Certification
preferred.
First Aid certification
preferred.
Class 4 Driver's License
considered an asset.
Experience
Minimum
5 years of progressive engineering/maintenance leadership experience
, with at least
3 years in a hotel or high-rise facility
.
Knowledge of
HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, BAS (Building Automation Systems)
and MS Office programs.
Proven ability to manage regulatory compliance, inspections, and external contractors.
Budgeting, vendor management, and project leadership experience.
Familiarity with Hilton brand standards is an asset.
