About the Role

The Engineering Department of Corus Radio Ottawa has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Broadcast Engineer. This is a permanent, full time position reporting to the Manager of Radio Technology - Eastern Division.

Reporting to and working closely with the Manager of Radio Technology - Eastern Division, you will be responsible for managing all technical broadcast related processes for the Corus Ottawa / Cornwall radio studios and transmitter sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, manage and assign workloads to engineering support personnel, including studio and transmitter technicians, remote broadcast technicians and dual role IT/engineering staff.
  • Prepare operational budgets and control operational costs within the engineering department.
  • Prepare capital budgets in concert with senior management.
  • Ensure all technical projects are implemented and completed on time and within budget.
  • Install, maintain and repair studio and transmitter equipment, systems, and facilities. Maintain and update technical documentation as required.
  • Ensure all technical systems, equipment, and projects meet applicable installation and safety codes. Ensure broadcast systems comply with applicable ISED Canada, Transport Canada, MOE, and Health Canada regulations.
  • Provide strong guidance and mentorship (as required) to team members.
  • Contribute as part of the cluster management team to solve problems and improve processes.
  • Liaise with building management in regards to facility issues, of which will include HVAC, space maintenance, security, parking, loading dock access, shared services...etc.
About You

What We Need From You:
  • Recent applicable and direct radio engineering experience in the role of a Senior / Chief Engineer
  • Graduate of a recognized electronics technician or technologist program preferred
  • High degree of technical competency and strong managerial skills required
  • High degree of expertise and experience with radio technical equipment and processes
  • Extensive familiarity and experience with radio specific and general office computer software
  • Experience in managing and implementing both radio studio and general office construction
  • Ability to easily multitask and shift primary focus in response to changing needs
