Your opportunity:
We are recruiting for a Chemistry Laboratory Technician to provide teaching support services for the undergraduate chemistry laboratories within the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences. You will report to the Chemistry Laboratory Coordinator and contribute to the efficient and successful operations of the undergraduate chemistry labs. In coordination with other laboratory technical staff and course instructors, you will have specific course assignments, and be responsible for preparing all chemicals in the various forms and mixtures for delivery with required equipment to specific labs. The team of Laboratory Technicians are expected to work together in both set-up and clean-up after all chemistry courses. You will act as a resource to provide direction on procedures and practices, laboratory protocols and experimental procedures and equipment. Your essential role in maintaining standard operating procedures, equipment inventories, and catalogs of major assets has a direct impact on the lab experience of faculty and students, and the effectiveness of lab experiments.
Note: The incumbent must be available to work on-site 5 days a week for day/afternoon/evening shifts. Hours of work can vary by academic term, ranging between 8:45am and 9:30pm on Mondays to Fridays.
