Katilac Coatings Inc. provides wood finishing systems and colour matching services through two company owned distribution sites in Ontario along with a network of distributors throughout North America. Our coating are supplied to the manufacturers of Kitchens, Furniture, Shutters, Store Fixtures and Mill Work.

Katilac Coatings' (KCI) Southern Ontario manufacturing facility has been custom formulating and producing quality wood products under stringent test specifications since 1962. Katilac Coatings has been named twice in PROFIT Magazine rankings of Canada's Fastest-Growing Companies.

We are seeking a Paint and Coatings Chemist with a strong background in wood coatings. This position requires a strong knowledge of wood finishing systems and applications. The ideal candidate would have experience in both solvent and water-based lacquer, conversion varnishes and stains.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:

As our Paint and Coatings Chemist you would be responsible for developing, and optimizing our coatings line.

? Product development

Responsible for developing new products requests

Physical and performance testing of development projects

Current product optimization and enhancement

? Production Support - Shared Function with other lab staff

Reasonable for supporting day to day production requirements including batch adjustments and troubleshooting when required.

? Quality Control - Shared Function with other lab staff

Testing production batches against specifications

Determine adjustments needed bring batches into specification

Approve batches for packaging

? Required Skills

BSc Chemistry or equivalent

Minimum of 5 years' experience in an Industrial Paint and Coatings Laboratory

General understand of regulations pertaining to the coatings industry would be and asset

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Must have good interpersonal skills and demonstrate problem solving skills

Knowledge of PC software: Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word

Attention to detail

Punctuality and Attendance a must

Must pass police check
