What you will be doing:
  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow colleagues
  • Makes menu and recipe recommendations to the Pastry Chef for future menu development for all areas, to ensure all offerings are current on top of food trends.
  • Monitors the quality of pastry items in all outlets and follows through with staff training in proper presentation and storage of pastry items
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment and ensures that all Health & Safety standards are met, procedures followed and that colleagues have the knowledge and tools to work safely.
  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction to the pastry team, with the use of production lists, recipes, photos, etc.
  • Promoting teamwork between the kitchen and all other departments, especially food and beverage service colleagues
  • Encourage staff with recycling program and Planet 21 Committee objectives
  • In charge of the Pastry Shop and ordering during absents of the Pastry Chef.
  • Follow outlet policies, procedures and service standards
Your experience and skills include:
  • Three years of pastry experience with Journeyman’s papers and valid trade qualificationsAble to work in a fast-paced, high-volume Pastry shop
  • Awareness of new trends in presentation and preparation of food, particularly plated restaurant style desserts
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working with guests in a public areas
  • Food Safe certification an asset
  • Able to create marzipan figures, sugar and chocolate decorations and show-pieces
  • Strong knowledge and skills in custom wedding cakes.
  • Strong knowledge in artisan bread making.
  • Energetic, self-motivated, out-going, team-player
