About the Restaurant:
Our restaurant has been an institution in the city for over 13 years, serving a modern interpretation of Chinese cuisine. Our primary goal at this established phase of operation is to not become complacent, remain cognizant of cultural, economic and industry shifts and take the appropriate steps to not only survive but thrive. We are currently endeavouring to reinvigorate the kitchen and the menu under the direction of Chef Joel Watanabe.
To that note, are now looking for a passionate and motivated Chef de Cuisine (CDC) who can work with us to inject the menu with fresh energy and excitement by creating new dishes that delve within and outside of current dining trends whilst still aligning with the Bao Bei brand. This individual must also be able to confidently build and maintain an efficient kitchen team in a positive and inspiring work environment. The ability to lead team members with an empathic, kind but firm hand is indispensable to us and is key to our company principles.
Responsibilities: Develop and execute a new menu concept that aligns with the restaurant's brand and vision.
Design creative and unique dishes using fresh, local ingredients.
Develop and manage relationships with local suppliers to ensure the quality and availability of ingredients.
Train and mentor kitchen staff on new menu items, cooking techniques, and presentation.
Ensure food safety and sanitation practices are followed in the kitchen. Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure a seamless dining experience for guests.
Manage food and labor costs, and work within budget parameters.
Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience in a culinary leadership role, with a proven track record of developing and executing successful menu concepts.
In-depth knowledge of ingredients, cooking techniques, and culinary trends.
Strong leadership and team-building skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with front-of-house staff and management.
Strong business acumen, including experience managing food and labor costs.

Base salary: $70,000
100% of full kitchen point when working service - roughly $350 - $500/week
