About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated
Chef
to lead the kitchen operations at our new Bedford Tap Room. This is a full-time, hands-on role ideal for someone who's passionate about creating great food in a casual, fast-paced environment. The Chef will oversee all kitchen operations, including menu execution, food preparation, staff management, cleanliness, and inventory.
This role is perfect for a seasoned kitchen leader who thrives in a team-oriented atmosphere and enjoys crafting approachable, high-quality pub-style dishes that pair perfectly with a cold pint of craft beer.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Leadership & Staff Management
Lead day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency.
Supervise, schedule, and support kitchen staff, including line cooks and prep team members.
Foster a positive kitchen culture that prioritizes teamwork, respect, and accountability.
Train new team members and provide ongoing coaching and support.
Menu & Food Preparation
Oversee all food preparation and ensure dishes meet presentation and quality standards.
Execute and adapt a simple, delicious bar-style menu with consistency and care.
Ensure timely and efficient service during peak hours.
Support menu development in collaboration with the Tap Room Manager based on seasonality, trends, and customer feedback.
Cleanliness & Compliance
Ensure all kitchen areas meet or exceed health and safety regulations.
Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen throughout each shift.
Implement and uphold proper food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures.
Inventory & Supply Management
Track kitchen inventory and place orders to ensure consistent stock of ingredients and supplies.
Manage food waste and portioning to control costs and maintain profitability.
Work with vendors to ensure timely delivery and quality of goods.
Qualifications
Minimum
5 years of experience managing a professional kitchen
(bar/pub environment preferred).
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
Proven ability to execute high-quality meals in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent knowledge of food safety practices and kitchen sanitation standards.
Comfortable with inventory control and basic kitchen administration.
Working Conditions
Full-time role with variable shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Hands-on cooking and kitchen supervision required daily.
