The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.Position OverviewUnder the general direction of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager - Child Health (or designate) the incumbent is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the daily clinical service delivery and environmental/operational issues in a designated service area to ensure optimum patient care in a safe therapeutic environment.
  • Providing expert guidance to technologists and support staff within the designated service area through clinical leadership, mentoring, supervision, education, evaluation, and research.
  • Contributing to the delivery of quality services by examining, developing, refining and evaluating the body of knowledge and clinical practices and assisting in program planning and development.
  • Assisting in performance appraisals and recruitment, as well as coordinating clinical work schedules, caseloads and service rotations.
  • Maintaining a partial clinical caseload within the established standards of care.
Experience
  • Minimum five years extensive pediatric general radiology experience.
  • Past experience in a leadership/supervisory capacity preferred.
  • CT experience preferred.
  • Quality Management experience preferred.
  • Proficient with computers, software programs and applications such as Word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Entry to practice requirement: graduate of an accredited school of Medical Imaging Technology.
  • Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) Advanced certification, or CAMRT CT Imaging Certificate, or Certificate in healthcare supervisory skills or equivalent preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Imaging Technology Program, eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) and registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) within three months of hire.
  • Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of active registration with the CAMRT.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
  • Demonstrated competence in a wide range of CT and General Imaging procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand or move about for extended periods of time.
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required.
  • Ability to lift and position patients who may be large, heavy and/or in a state of unconsciousness.
  • May be exposed to radiation (within acceptable limits).
  • Occasionally required to work extended hours.
  • Potential exposure to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress.
