Your new role




Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working closely with the Area Manager - Processing, the Process Discipline Engineer will participate in the development of the process flowsheet in collaboration with partner firms. This role will ensure compliance with technical standards and industrial and mining safety regulations. The position is primarily based in Montreal, with occasional travel to the site.


Your key responsibilities

Supervise and provide comments on design deliverables produced by external engineering firms. Manage small work packages, collaborate with the relevant firms, and provide clear recommendations. Act as a technical interface between our Owner's Team and the engineering firms, ensuring alignment with operational needs. Approve all process discipline deliverables on behalf of the Owner's Team, ensuring designs meet site standards and support project objectives. Review and comment on all process documentation (process flow diagrams, P&IDs, data sheets, control narratives, etc.). Actively participate in HAZOPs and other risk assessments. Contribute to design and development activities within the process discipline. Recommend the engineering standards to be applied to the project. Ensure that discipline processes are followed and optimized and provide guidance to service providers on required engineering procedures. Ensure full implementation of engineering quality processes. Manage design standardization across the project to improve execution efficiency. Oversee the integration of the scope across different work areas. Ensure that the process discipline is properly integrated with the requirements of other engineering disciplines. Conduct benchmarking studies against industry standards and best practices. Stay informed on emerging technologies and assess their relevance to our operations.

What you'll need to succeed



Bachelor's degree in chemical, metallurgical, or process engineering, with a minimum of 10 years of process engineering experience in an industrial environment, including several years in the mining or metallurgical sector. Excellent understanding of the principles and practices related to mineral processing (e.g., crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching, thickening, filtration, neutralization, effluent treatment). Expertise in the design, optimization, and commissioning of mineral or metallurgical processing facilities, with consideration for performance, safety, energy efficiency, and environmental impact requirements. Strong knowledge of Canadian and international standards and regulations related to process safety, chemical management, and environmental protection. Proven experience in the supervision and technical validation of complex processes. Strong technical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other engineering disciplines, functions, and service providers. Previous exposure to project execution under the EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management) methodology. Bilingual (French and English), with strong communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills. Strong analytical abilities, autonomy, attention to detail, and capacity to manage stress and tight deadlines. Member of the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec (OIQ).
