This exciting and pivotal role works across our rapidly growing open research programme to help drive new propositions for a wide range of customers and deliver sustainable revenue growth. It covers Taylor & Francis\xe2\x80\x99 full range of offerings in this area, including open access journals and books, transformative agreements, and F1000. The role oversees the global team of open research specialists who support different commercial aspects of these offerings including areas like our overall approach to transformative agreements, to pricing, and to customer success.

The role is part of Taylor & Francis\xe2\x80\x99 Commercial leadership team, and works in close collaboration with our regional commercial leadership, and with key stakeholders across other departments, to ensure the business\xe2\x80\x99 commercial goals for open research are delivered globally, and to input into the overall open research strategy.

The role involves:

  • Ensuring our business models and prices support sustainable customer value and revenue growth across our full range of open research offerings (including APC pricing and transformative agreement frameworks), and that our front-line commercial teams are aware of the options and governance processes when delivering offers to customers
  • Tracking the progress and impact of our commercial teams globally in driving value for and revenue from open research customers, and providing leadership, best practice, and actionable data for open research business development activities in each region
  • Articulating the value of our global programme of transformative agreements and our open research strategy more generally to different customer groups and scholarly communities, working closely with policy, communications, and editorial teams in doing so, and while providing flexibility to meet nuanced regional needs
  • Providing commercial input and sign off for journal open access models, including conversions, acquisitions, and new launches
  • Looking for cross-regional opportunities in supporting the global uptake of open research models and frameworks
  • Working closely with Finance on budgeting, planning, forecasting and reporting on open research revenue, including regular update meetings to Executive Leadership Team.
  • Managing the OA Commercial Operations function, including working with our technology teams to ensure the successful development of relevant infrastructure and OA agreement implementation
  • Leading the growth of F1000 as part of the F1000 senior management team
  • Leading Tayor & Francis\xe2\x80\x99 rapidly growing Open Books programme, working in close coordination with our Editorial team, in particular through innovating on business models, supporting business development, and ensuring customer awareness across all regions grows rapidly
Qualifications
  • In depth understanding of the global open research landscape, including funder and government policy.
  • Commercial experience, including an understanding of business models, revenue modelling and setting commercial strategy.
  • Ability to quickly build strong internal and external relationships, experience working in a matrix structure particularly valuable.
  • Track record of innovation in working with significant open research customers.
