Position Description





SickKids is looking for a Change Engagement Lead to support Research Operations in realizing the Research Institute\xe2\x80\x99s (RI) and Hospital\xe2\x80\x99s strategy and vision of Unprecedented Outcomes power by Precision Child Health. The RI\xe2\x80\x99s goals are to 1) excel as international leaders in child health research where clinical questions drive scientific inquiries and the resulting findings drive clinical change; 2) Undertake discovery research to uncover mechanisms of childhood disease; 3) Maximize translation of research discoveries to improve child health at SickKids and worldwide. To achieve these goals, we will be implementing technologies, transforming processes, and creating cultures to foster and accelerate breakthrough research and clinical translation. Reporting to the Executive Director of Research Operations, and working with operational, research, and clinical leaders across the enterprise, the Change Engagement Lead will ensure the success of enterprise projects which change the tools we use, the processes we follow, and the ways in which we collaborate and support our staff. The successful candidate will use their experience and expertise in change management to help design, develop and implement change frameworks for various projects. They will interact with and inspire multiple stakeholders and play a key role in shifting organizational culture, achieving buy-in, and supporting the adoption of new systems, processes, and workplace strategies. The Change Engagement Lead will focus on the people side of change as the organization undergoes major workplace transformation efforts. The primary focus will be assisting in the creation and implementation of change engagement plans, they will work to inspire future-oriented thinking, manage risks associated with the change dynamic, and help ensure that business and project results are achieved. The successful candidate will be required to work through and influence many others in the organization to succeed. They will act as a coach for change sponsors and project champions representing various departments to help them fulfill their role as change agents. They will support project teams in integrating change engagement activities into their project plans. Here\'s what you\'ll get to do:
  • Applies evidence-based change engagement methodologies and human-centred design concepts to support successful changes in practice, technology, people and culture
  • Partners with stakeholders in Research Operations and the Research Institute Executive to develop change engagement strategies for projects critical to the successful realization of the Hospital and the RI\xe2\x80\x99s strategic plan
  • Uses awareness of current state and aspirations related to the future vision, to support projects and groups being impacted by the change. Supports the implementation of the change strategy given unique requirements
  • Integrates change engagement activities into the RI\xe2\x80\x99s scientific and operational workplan. Works closely with project managers, portfolio owners, and scientific leaders to instill best-practice change strategies
  • Conducts readiness assessments, evaluates results and presents findings in a logical and easy-to-understand manner. Collaborates with key internal stakeholders in the creation of change engagement plans \xe2\x80\x93 including communication plans, sponsor roadmaps, stakeholder assessments, coaching plans, training plans, resistance management plans and user adoption and sustainability plans.
  • Ensures alignment with Corporate Communication principles by working closely with the research communications team and stakeholders, in the development of communication and formulation of plans to support project implementation. Creates two-way communication forums and mechanisms to gather stakeholder feedback and input for consideration at all stages of the project and assesses levels of stakeholder acceptance throughout the project.
  • Coaches transformation champions and front-line leaders who are change sponsors. From the initial change phases to implementation, assists leaders in their role as change agents and in stakeholder engagement practices. Assists with the early implementation of change opportunities.
  • Creates and manages measurement systems to track adoption, utilization, and proficiency of change initiatives.
Here\'s what you\'ll need:
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree with 7+ year relevant experience (academia is a plus!)
  • Certification in a change management methodology (ie. Prosci) or a related discipline (ie. Design Thinking)
  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of change engagement/management principles and methodologies in a complex organizational environment
  • In-depth understanding of how people respond to change and the change process.
  • Exceptional presentation, facilitation, and communication skills \xe2\x80\x93 both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical, business acumen, problem-solving and decision-making skills at both strategic and tactical level
  • Experience successfully supporting diverse groups; strong consulting, negotiating, influencing and facilitation skills; experience establishing credibility and working relationships at all levels of the organization; solid sense of confidentiality and discretion
Term: 1.0 FTE, 2-year contract, renewable
