Job Summary:



The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, installation, verification, and repair of fire alarm systems to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This role ensures that fire alarm systems are functioning properly and meet all safety requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in fire alarm system service and a strong understanding of the Ontario Fire Code, NFPA standards, and Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:Inspection, Testing & Verification:



Perform scheduled inspections and testing of fire alarm systems in accordance with CFAA, NFPA, and Ontario Fire Code standards. Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting findings, deficiencies, and necessary corrective actions. Conduct functional tests of alarm panels, smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, strobes, and horns. Identify and troubleshoot faults in fire alarm systems and recommend corrective measures. Perform verification of new fire alarm system installations to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and system functionality.

Installation & Maintenance:



Install and program fire alarm control panels, initiating devices, and notification appliances. Conduct routine maintenance and servicing of fire alarm components to ensure optimal performance. Repair and replace defective or outdated fire alarm system components. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for proper installation and servicing.

Safety & Compliance:



Ensure all work is performed in compliance with the Ontario Fire Code, NFPA standards, CFAA regulations, and company policies. Follow all workplace safety procedures, including the use of protective equipment and adherence to safety protocols. Participate in regular safety training and report any potential hazards.

Team Collaboration:



Work closely with project managers, salespeople, and other technicians to complete inspections, installations, verifications, and repairs efficiently. Provide guidance and support to apprentices and junior technicians. Maintain clear communication with supervisors regarding project progress and any challenges.

Customer Service & Site Coordination:



Interact professionally with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities on-site. Address client inquiries and provide recommendations regarding system maintenance and repairs. Ensure worksites are clean, organized, and free of hazards after project completion.

Qualifications:Education & Experience:



Certified with the Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) as a Fire Alarm Technician (required). Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fire alarm system installation, inspection, verification, or maintenance (preferred). Familiarity with various fire alarm system components, including panels, detectors, and notification appliances.

Skills & Competencies:



Strong technical knowledge of fire alarm systems, Ontario Fire Code, NFPA standards, and CFAA regulations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical diagrams and blueprints.

Certifications:



CFAA Fire Alarm Technician Certification (required). Manufacturer-specific certifications for fire alarm systems (preferred).

Work Environment:



Field-based role with travel to various project sites. Work may involve heights, confined spaces, and physically demanding tasks. Occasional extended hours may be required to meet project deadlines or respond to emergency repairs. Must be available for on-call duty as required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $31.50-$45.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 45 per week
