We are seeking passionate and experienced Centre Managers to oversee the daily operations of our childcare centres. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of early childhood development, strong leadership skills, and the ability to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for children to thrive. As the manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, managing staff, liaising with parents, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Job Summary:
To work in collaboration with, and under the direction of the Administration team to manage centre operations in compliance with Hand in Hand Child Care Society's policies, goals and objectives. To ensure the safety and well-being of the children in our care, while leading a team of childcare professionals that works collaboratively to maintain a nurturing environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and social growth of each child.
Qualifications:
Valid certification in a human services field, (i.e. Early Childhood Education, School-age Child Care, Child & Youth Care, Social Services).
A minimum of 2 years' experience working in a management or leadership role in a childcare setting.
Experience working with the provincial Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and Community Care and Assisted Living Act.
Knowledge and experience working with the BC Early Learning Framework (BC ELF).
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
A clear criminal record check.
A current medical clearance form.
Three (3) letters of reference with current telephone numbers.
First Aid certification including CPR.
Asset:
A valid BC Early Childhood Education License to Practice (ECE LTP).
Excellent organizational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with childcare management software.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities.
High level of integrity, reliability, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
Child Development and Programming:
Plan and implement an age-appropriate curriculum that promotes creativity and social development that align with Hand in Hand philosophies, values and mission.
Foster positive relationships with children, families and staff, promoting open communication and collaboration.
Ensure compliance with licensing regulations related to childcare programs and facilities.
Keep the administration team, informed of any child or family concerns in the centre.
Safety and Well-being:
Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for children, in accordance with Fraser Health and provincial licensing regulations.
Respond effectively to incidents or emergencies, following Hand in Hand protocols and ensuring the health and well-being of all children and staff.
Keep the administration team informed of any health and safety concerns in the centre.
Leadership and Management:
Provide strong leadership to childcare staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Ensure that all program documents and records are completed and submitted on time to the administration office.
Attend all Hand in Hand staff meetings and any other meetings deemed necessary by the administration office team.
Regularly communicate with families through email, including sending monthly newsletters and distributing the monthly enrollment calendar. Respond to emails promptly.
Purchase daily operating supplies in keeping within the centre monthly petty cash budget.
Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new staff.
Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring of centre staff.
Provide new family centre tours and orientations.
Parent and Community Engagement:
Build strong partnerships with parents and families, fostering open communication and involvement in their child's care and development.
To advertise available childcare spaces for enrollment of new families, through social media and the school (i.e. monthly school newsletter).
Communicate and collaborate with the school principal, secretary, custodian and staff to enhance the services and resources available to children in the Hand in Hand program.
Present a positive and professional image with families, staff, the school and the community as a representative of Hand in Hand Child Care Society.
Promote all Hand in Hand fundraising initiatives.
