You are a numbers person and handling complex financial reporting comes naturally to you. You have a deep understanding and proven track record of success and operational excellence in the accounting field. You know how to properly "control" the systems at a hotel, so as to deliver a superior result to the bottom line. You are the key accounting executive at your property, with a team looking to you to provide a clear view of the property's financial picture. You lead a team that ensures accurate and timely reporting. Your role also safeguards the owners/investors assets and confirms property-wide compliance with all federal, provincial and local laws. Your expertise in interpreting key data allows the General Managers and your co-workers to take the right steps to deliver on the bottom line.

you will:
Be a Finance Guru -
analyze financial data and operations to assist and advise management in maintaining the hotels' financial objectives. Ensure that all balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations are reconciled on a timely basis. Establish and continually audit all internal financial controls including, but not limited to, purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, credit extension, inventories, hotel assets, and payroll.
Be a Communicator
- keep the General Managers and the corporate staff, as well as your co-workers - updated on important data and new systems/processes. Work closely with hotels and the corporate team to understand their priorities and expectations. If requested, communicate effectively and timely with your ownership group.
Be a Leader
- manage a team and lead them through the employee life cycle including, but not limited to, development, coaching and performance. Work closely with the properties to assist with budgeting and forecasting.
Job Requirements
This role requires at least six years of progressive experience in hotel accounting or a related field. A 4-year college degree in Accounting/Finance preferred and/or completion or enrollment in an Accounting Designation program (e.g. CMA) preferred.
To be successful in this role, you must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally in English with associates, guests, hotel management and - if required - ownership and to be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately. You must also be able to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of a particular need, with mathematical reasoning and the ability to prioritize required.
This job requires light/sedentary work - exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently - with a regular need to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. This role will require the ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels, with near vision (the ability to see details at close range) required. The Central Controller will regularly use office equipment, e.g. a computer and various software programs
