About the position
Position is for Control Room Boiler Operator at the ADM Lloydminster, AB facility. Facility is a canola seed crushing and extraction plant with a biodiesel plant. Facility is a 1st Class ABSA rated plant with a natural gas turbine for power generation and heat recovery boiler for saturated steam generation for process heating. Also includes a package boiler for saturated steam generation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Initiate all start up and shutdown procedures with operator assistance
  • Make control adjustments for the proper plant operation
  • Collect water samples and maintain boiler water chemistry
  • Monitor equipment operation and records operational parameters
  • Make operational adjustments for the entire facility from the control room as needed
  • Complete lubrication requirements for the boiler facility
  • Monitor and complete housekeeping items for the boiler facility
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and operational problems for the boiler facility
  • Make quality control adjustments for the area
  • Complete facility improvement projects and painting
  • Monitor fire system equipment and boiler room hot work applications
  • Monitor facility safety and work operations in the area
  • Assist with maintenance operations within the area
  • Monitor environmental equipment and make operational adjustments as needed
  • Clean and maintain boiler equipment for proper operation
  • Perform lock out tag out procedures for the MCC’s
  • Relieve the preparation operator during break periods and assume his responsibilities
  • All other duties required

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Candidate must have good communication skills, ability to follow directions, work well with others, and be able to take initiative
  • Willing to work weekends and overtime as needed
  • Demonstrate initiative to work independently while flexible enough to work in team setting when needed
  • Understand and follow company safety procedures with a commitment to ADM’s goal of achieving a zero injury culture
  • Exhibit a professional image at all times; maintain a positive and respectful attitude
  • Previous experience operating a computer is preferred
  • Previous experience in maintenance related disciplines is preferred
Education or Work Experience
  • This is a 2nd Class ABSA steam ticketed position, will accept a 3rd Class ticket with progress to 2nd Class
  • High school education or equivalent is preferred
Health and Safety
  • Work in accordance with local/provincial legislation
  • Understands and is accountable for full compliance with safety and other EHS requirements
Additional Information
  • Employee must be able to lift/exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Employee must be able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time
  • Employee must be able to perform fast-paced repetitive tasks throughout the day
  • Following Safety rules, Food Safety rules, and Environmental rules is essential
