Gather Catering is a made from scratch full service catering company that offers a high level of food and service to our clients. We cater to a variety of events both in clients' homes and in event venues throughout the city. The events we cater include corporate breakfasts and lunches, cocktail and dinner parties, weddings, birthday parties, baby showers, social gatherings, celebrations of life.
As the Catering & Event Manager at Gather, you will oversee the end-to-end planning, coordination, and successful execution of all catered events, while also supporting the operational, administrative, and strategic aspects of the business. This multifaceted role combines leadership, client service, team management, and logistics to ensure every event reflects our commitment to excellence and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Client Management & Event Planning
Work with the Catering Coordinators to ensure that all inquiries, proposals, event details, follow-up and billing are being efficiently dealt with in a timely manner.
Develop customized proposals that align with client needs, vision, and budget.
Conduct site visits, manage event logistics, and ensure all details are accurately communicated to internal teams.
Handle client feedback and resolve complaints professionally to maintain high satisfaction and ongoing relationships.
Team Leadership & Staffing
Oversee event staffing and scheduling for all off-site and in-house events.
Recruit, hire, onboard, and train catering staff, ensuring all team members reflect Gather's service standards.
Create detailed event briefs and communicate expectations clearly to team members.
Process payroll and monitor team performance, providing guidance and support as needed.
Chair a weekly event meeting with the Gather team to review the previous week's events, share feedback, and align on upcoming events and logistics.
Operations & Administration
Manage accounts receivable and invoicing, ensuring timely payment and accurate financial records.
Maintain and update business licenses, insurance, and other required operational documentation.
Oversee catering equipment inventory, ensuring supplies are tracked, maintained, and replenished as needed.
Track event sales and analyze performance metrics to support business growth.
Creative & Marketing Support
Collaborate with the marketing team to provide timely and relevant content, including photos, menu updates, and event highlights.
Use Canva efficiently to assist in the creation of custom menus and branded event materials.
Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 4 years of experience in catering or event management
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-first mindset
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with acute attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google, and event planning software (Caterease preferable)
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Passionate about sustainability and upholding Gather's zero-waste commitment
