M? t?nei t?ranga | About the opportunity
We're looking for a Category Manager to join our IT & Corporate Services, Procurement team, based in Auckland or Hamilton. This role is all about developing and implementing IT category sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the Co-op achieves sustainable best value while minimising supply risk.
This is a high profile role and you will lead strategic IT sourcing activities, partner with senior stakeholders, and maintain deep expertise in your category to deliver innovative solutions and strong commercial outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing and executing IT category and supplier management strategies
Leading IT strategic sourcing and procurement activities
Managing strategic IT supplier performance and engagement plans
Partnering with senior IT stakeholders to align strategies with business needs
Monitoring market dynamics and mitigating supply risks
Ensuring compliance with procurement controls and governance standards
M?u | About You
You're a strategic thinker with strong procurement expertise and a proven ability to deliver value through category management.
To be successful, you'll bring:A tertiary qualification in supply chain, procurement, or related business degree (MCIPS or equivalent preferred)
Minimum 10 years' experience in strategic procurement, including IT category strategy development, sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management
Technical expertise in relevant IT spend categories
Strong stakeholder management skills, including at executive level
Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
