is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Restorative category, which includes dental composites, etches, bonds (adhesives), tissue management, finishing and polishing products, and dental curing lights. This role requires a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, market trends, pricing strategies, and sales tactics while ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders, including sales, marketing, and operations.
This position reports to the Category Business Manager and works closely with them to develop and execute strategies and build campaigns that drive category growth and support overall business objectives.
Accountabilities
Strategic Planning & Business Development
Develop and execute the annual category business plan with cross-functional teams
Evaluate prior year performance and refine strategies for efficiency and growth
Conduct comprehensive competitive analysis to inform long-term strategy
Lead annual pricing and margin reviews; participate in budgeting
Identify new product opportunities with Business Development, CE Managers, KOLs, and vendor partners
Represent the Restorative category in special markets (DSOs, dental schools, universities)
Suggest marketplace product listings and pricing strategies
Collaborate on year-long promotional programs and campaigns (Bulk Buys, Advantage+, merchandising, New User offers)
Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis
Track competitor pricing, marketing strategies, and product launches
Conduct field research via customer engagement and dental event participation
Monitor and analyze sales data, inventory levels, and customer demand trends
Provide competitive insights to inform sales scripting and marketing campaigns
Conduct annual competitive landscape review to guide strategic decisions
Pricing & Financial Management
Review and adjust pricing strategies based on market trends and company goals
Determine pricing for new products after market analysis
Develop promotional pricing strategies for monthly, quarterly, and event-based campaigns
Participate in budgeting and financial target setting
Supply Chain & Inventory Oversight
Assess inventory reports and coordinate with supply chain for optimal stock levels
Lead quarterly supply chain reviews to address backorders and overstock
Develop or update product forecasts to inform purchasing and inventory planning
Address urgent supply chain issues and backorders
Sales Enablement & Training
Organize and facilitate sales training sessions on product applications and techniques
Develop training materials, presentations, and resources to enhance sales effectiveness
Regularly update field tools (mini clinics, competitive charts, CRD University demos)
Respond to internal inquiries about product specs, pricing, and positioning
Support sales teams with messaging, targeting, and positioning strategies
Performance Reporting & Leadership Communication
Analyze sales trends and report on revenue, margins, and market share
Present strategic updates and business reviews to senior leadership
Provide evaluation of previous year's performance and adjust strategies accordingly
Product Launch & Lifecycle Management
Execute product launches following go-to-market process
Create F016s for new products and complete initial forecasts
Act as internal champion for Restorative category and first point of contact for new opportunities
Support marketing campaigns and ensure alignment with category objectives
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in product/category management, preferably in the dental or medical device industry.
Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
Strong analytical skills for sales and market data interpretation.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Knowledge of restorative dental workflows and clinical applications.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in financial analysis, pricing strategies, and inventory management.
Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to execution.
