Position Summary
As a Category Advisor, you will be responsible for fostering a sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership with Wal-Mart in the Adult Nutrition and Vitamins, Minerals, Herbs, and Supplements (VMHS) categories. This role involves creating customized customer solutions for the account and facilitating the sharing and exchange of analyses related to category and account opportunities. Your efforts will contribute to the overall growth and success of both the partnership and the product categories.
A day in the life of a Category Advisor
Participates in scheduled (weekly) customer meetings and continuously communicates with the customer to ensure satisfaction.
Coordinates and communicates with Category Shopper Development team
Acts as the "store-level" and Industry expert for our customers through continual Retail Visits and analysis of Industry Resources.
Create and build fact-based tools, scorecards and presentations to provide category insights to customer.
Upholds signed Confidentiality Agreements and Firewall with Customer information.
Drives category profitability at the customer through executing all category management initiatives: Listing Base Recommendations, Promotion Planning and Post Evaluation, Category Reviews, Ongoing Business Tracking and course correction
Provides strategic recommendations to customer following thorough category review and analysis of 4P's: price, presence, placement and promotion
Challenges existing strategies and concepts, increases current knowledge base and insight through testing of new ideas
Applies and refines Customer and Nestle category management practices and processes
Management of Customer Planogram review process in areas of responsibility (including POG development)
Manage complete toolbox of category insights to advise customer: POS data, NIQ, Numerator, Shopper Intelligence, etc.
What will make you successful?
-3 - 5 years in sales and analytical role, with a proven track record of delivering business results
Expertise in the retail landscape and category management are core competencies.
Ability to work in a customer data platform to extract data insights (Retail link) is a prerequisite
Post secondary education in Business Administration or any related field
Strong computer skills, specifically with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently, showcasing excellent time and project management while maintaining attention to detail.
Motivation as a self-starter with the ability to think "out of the box" in an effort to secure incremental business opportunities.
