Overview of Lennon House Lennon Recovery House Association Inc. (Lennon House) is a nonprofit charity with the purpose of providing a safe, temporary home for individuals recovering from addictions and co-occurring mental health disorders. We offer a client centered approach and evidence based programming to provide a solid foundation to educate residents to address issues commonly faced in recovery.
Overview of the position
It is our firm belief that each resident is personally responsible for their own actions and their own sobriety. Therefore the Peer Support staff will come alongside the residents in their recovery journey to support and guide residents during their stay at Lennon House. The Peer Support Worker will also help prepare residents to live independently through teaching basic life skills. All employees are required to sign a confidentiality agreement and must be discreet and discerning when working with residents. A high moral standard of work ethics will be required at all times. We are currently looking to fill 4 casual positions which may include any of our three shifts: overnight shift 11pm - 7am; evening shift 3 - 11 pm; day shift 7am - 3pm. Weekend availability is a must.
General duties
\xc2\xb7 Establish trusting relationships with residents. \xc2\xb7 Maintain a harmonious balance within the residence. \xc2\xb7 Listen to and act upon residents\xe2\x80\x99 concerns. \xc2\xb7 Escalate concerns and recommendations to management regarding residents. \xc2\xb7 Work with residents to complete their in-house training program. \xc2\xb7 Write Daily Reports at end of shift. \xc2\xb7 Complete other tasks necessary to support residents (as determined by management). \xc2\xb7 Be familiar with and abide by the Ethics and Lennon House rules as outlined in the Staff Handbook. \xc2\xb7 Make recommendations to management on issues pertinent to resident behaviour and transition needs. \xc2\xb7 In absence of management, call emergency services if required.
Qualifications
\xc2\xb7 Grade 12 or equivalency. Peer support training, NVCI training, CPR training, and ASIST training an assest. \xc2\xb7 If you are in recovery, you Must have minimum 2 year recovery from addiction and be currently active in a recovery community. \xc2\xb7Knowledge of addictions and recovery process, including knowledge of community recovery resources and location and time of Island recovery meetings an asset. \xc2\xb7 Good oral and written communications skills, computer keyboarding skills, good record keeping skills. \xc2\xb7 Ability to work well with people in need. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to learn new programming. \xc2\xb7 Job Type: Casual Salary: $19.00 per hour Schedule:
