Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Cook to join our team working in a community mental health facility. In this role, you will be cooking for approximately 25 people while being mindful of each unique dietary need.

Responsibilities

Preparation and serving of meals to patients, ensuring adherence to food safety standards. Engage with patients in a supportive manner, fostering a positive environment conducive to recovery. Monitor patient behavior and report any significant changes or concerns to the clinical team. Maintain cleanliness and organization in food service areas, adhering to health regulations. Participate in meal preparation activities, including cooking and food handling, as required. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans effectively. Document patient interactions and progress accurately as part of ongoing care assessments. Adhere to the Canada Food Guide and ensure licensing compliance.

Qualifications

Previous experience in the food industry or kitchen environment is preferred, including skills in food preparation and cooking. Knowledge of food safety practices and handling procedures is essential. Strong interpersonal skills with a genuine desire to serve others in a mental health setting. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while maintaining patient confidentiality. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients and staff. A background in restaurant service or related fields is advantageous but not mandatory. Must be able to pass any required background checks or screenings as part of the hiring process.
