Murray McKinnon Foundation (MMF), Specialized Services

, Lavender Hill

is the first provincial out of home care program providing mentorship and support

to female and female identifying people aged 12-18 years of age who have been sex trafficked and commercially sexually exploited.



We are seeking a

Direct Care Facilitator (Casual)

who will be providing

active engagement and assistance to the children/youth

at Lavender Hill; ensuring they are receiving relational care, adequate supervision and to support the plans are in place to meet their unique and individualized needs. The DCF Casual will be expected to perform self-selected shift work that includes Days, Nights, holidays, both weekdays and weekends.

This program operates from a confidential location situated within Peterborough County. A valid G level driver's license and reliable vehicle will be required to access your employment site.

Hourly rate of pay

Successful Candidates

will be expected to

:



Promote and engage with the Agency's Mission, Vision and Value Statements as well as its Strategic Plan Foster and be responsible for the relational care of the young people in our program while using a survivor centered framework Provide and actively engage in an inclusive, anti-oppressive and anti-racist environment that promotes 'felt' safety to the young people we serve Conduct on-going observations, reporting and documentation of the young person's well-being while responding to behaviors using a trauma-informed and healing centered lens Employ supportive and motivational counselling skills and as required, crisis intervention techniques Strive to meet the physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual and cultural needs of each young person Utilize evidence informed proactive measures, programming and intervention practices grounded in harm-reduction principles that are culturally appropriate to each young person Actively assist the young person in establishing community connections and participating in pro-social activities Identifying and communicating systemic barriers on young person and assist in advocating for their mediation and or elimination, and above all; Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team professionals, which include Director, supervisor, and clinical care team (e.g. social workers, nurses), all to the aim of ensuring best care practices are provided to the young person

The Successful Candidate

must

:



Have a valid G driver's license, acceptable driving record & willingness to travel to work site located in Peterborough County Have the ability to work no less than 60 hours in every 3-month period Provide proof of Immunization records, must have physician's note (fitness to work) Provide a current

Broad Record Check

Have proof of Post-Secondary education, Bachelor of Child and Youth Care is preferred;

or

a minimum level of education required in a 2 year diploma in a related field (social services diploma, mental health & addictions, police foundations as examples) (the absence of education or professional membership experience, persons who identify as First Voice/Survivor of sexual exploitation and/or sex trafficking will be taken into consideration)

Preferred

Experiences and Skills:



Knowledge of legislation related to Child Welfare, sexual exploitation and Youth Justice Displayed competencies of self-care practices, personal/professional boundaries & commitment to growth of interpersonal skills Sound understanding and ability to apply some of the following counselling approaches: victim survivor centered, Feminist, cognitive-behavioral, Mindfulness Demonstrated ability to work with neurodiverse persons, have a creative approach, excellent verbal and written communication skills and be open to working within an environment of both 'grey' and rigid structure

have these additional assets:



Specialized training on the topic of Sexual Exploitation & Human Trafficking Indigenous Perspectives and Designations Fluency in languages other than English Certifications such as ASIST, First Aid/CPR-C, and UMAB Previous work experiences in child welfare, youth justice, out of home care, and/or anti-human trafficking settings
