Requirements

Post-secondary education in Recreation Therapy, Recreation and Leisure studies or Therapeutic Recreation. Social work or Social service work. Behavioral Supports Ontario implementation skills/experience is an asset Minimum one (1) year experience in health care setting. Minimum two (2) years' experience in program planning, implementation, documentation and evaluation in a senior's care setting. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Proficiency in Point Click Care. Passion and focus on the person centered approach and working with seniors. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, creativity and high motivation are musts. Valid Vulnerable Sector Search (within the last 6 months)
Responsibilities

Organizes, implements and directly provides appropriate resident centered activities and restorative choices. Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and skills to oversee it's promotion and implementation. Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. Promotes a positive team spirit within the department and the facility. Supports MOHLTC Standards and Morriston Park Nursing Home Policies. Provides all new residents with a thorough orientation to the Activation Department. Participates in team conferences to plan, develop and assess individual resident choices and care plans. Identifies and encourages opportunities for residents to share special skills or knowledge with others, both inside and outside the facility. Demonstrates skills in implementing recreational programming that reaches the five domains for quality programming (physical, social, emotional, spiritual and cognitive). Demonstrates proficiency and enthusiasm in participating with group outings for resident satisfaction. Other duties as required.

8 hour shift Weekends as needed
