Job Description

Kobelt is looking for an experienced Casting Technician to setup and operate High Pressure Die Casting machines casting marine and industrial controls. Kobelt is a brand leader in commercial controls that are sold around the world. This position reports to the Operations Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Prioritize and perform the daily activities required to meet or exceed the Work Order due dates for scheduled Casting production.

Clean and maintain all required casting tools and fixtures necessary to produce conforming production parts.

Ensure all casting machinery and equipment is set up and ready for production at all times.

Ensure casting components meet the specifications supplied by Engineering and communicated to Production via Drawings and Work Orders.

Ensure cast parts conform to Quality standards.

Plan, co-ordinate, manage and control all department activities related to the on-time execution of production requirements.

Manage the storage of raw materials including labelling and separation of ingot heat lots, scrap material for re-melt and preventing foreign metals and other contaminants from entering the product.

Maintain traceability of cast products by applying unique batch markings, recording the material heat lot and work order details where traceability requirements are identified on the work order.

Ensure that departmental NCRs are initiated and completed as required.

Ensure that activities are accounted for through timely, complete and accurate scanning of all work into the Company's ERP system.

Ensure that all inventory is accurately and completely issued and received on a timely basis into the Company's ERP system on Work Orders.

Problem solving and trouble shooting issues that arise.

Comply with all safety procedures and ensure a safe work environment is maintained at all times.

Assist in the development and achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures, Process Mapping & Work Procedures.

Perform work in accordance with Company documented policies and procedures.

Complete all applicable quality records on a timely and accurate basis.

QUALIFICATIONS



Education:



Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred.

Experience:



1 to 5 years' experience working in the casting industry, preferably with die casting experience.

1 to 5 years' hands on pouring of molten metal.

Mold, pattern or die setup.

Ability to read and understand mechanical and machine drawings.

Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices.

Basic knowledge of ISO9001.

Physical

:

Presence on the production floor is required in close proximity to working machinery.

Elevated ambient temperatures in the vicinity of molten metal.

Frequent lifting and poring of molten metal and inventory not exceeding 50 lbs.

Language

:

Strong fluency in English both written and verbal.

Computer Skills:



General computer knowledge.

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office is an advantage - Excel and Word.

Experience using an ERP system.

Other:



Good interpersonal skills are required.

Organized and proactive with excellent time management skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$33.00 per hour
