Position Summary
The
Cashier
is responsible for delivering friendly, accurate, and efficient service at the front counter. This role is
primarily customer-facing
, with a strong focus on
transaction accuracy and customer experience
. Office and administrative duties are
minimal
and completed only as assigned.
The quality of service and the customer experience are the top priorities in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales (Primary Focus)
Greet customers promptly and professionally
Process sales transactions accurately using the POS system
Accept and balance payments (cash, debit, credit, account charges, and e-transfers)
Answer basic product and order-related questions
Direct customers to appropriate staff for technical or complex inquiries
Issue receipts, refunds, and credits with a high level of accuracy
Cash Handling & Accuracy
Maintain an accurate cash drawer at all times
Follow company procedures for cash handling and security
Report discrepancies immediately to management
Complete end-of-shift till balancing as required
Counter & Work Area Standards
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional cashier counter
Ensure customer paperwork is complete before product release
Keep cashier trays and documents orderly
Follow document-handling procedures as trained
Limited Office / Administrative Tasks
(Secondary and minimal)
Attach or file basic transaction paperwork
Forward required documents to the Head office
Scan or submit documents only when directed
No independent office decision-making
Must have access to a vehicle to complete bank deposits when required
Compliance & Team Communication
Follow all company policies and procedures
Escalate issues, exceptions, or concerns to a Manager immediately
Communicate clearly with Management team
Support inventory counts and year-end processes when scheduled
Required Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of cashiering experience (required)
Minimum 1 year of office administration experience (required)
Strong customer service skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Basic computer and POS experience
Ability to handle cash responsibly
Clear verbal communication skills
Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
Working Conditions
Primarily cashier-based with minimal office tasks
Standing for extended periods
Frequent interaction with customers
Merchandising support as required
Monitoring and requesting basic office and store supplies to support daily operations
