Story Behind the Need

  • Business group: GWO - Lending Services - Corporate Credit
  • Project: This is a remediation initiative, remediating aged cash breaks, and to clean up data in lending systems.
  • Candidate Value Proposition: The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within Lending Services at one of the big 5 banks.
Typical Day in Role:
  • Investigate and resolve outstanding cash breaks and associated deal/facility/obligation data issues including processing the required entries in corresponding systems to clear the cash breaks and issues.
  • Assist with data updates required in the Lending System (ACBS and/or LoanIQ) migration project. Support additional reconciliation and investigation activities during the transitioning to the new system.
  • Recognize and ensure all exceptions to policies and procedures are brought to the attention of management for resolution when required.
  • Build effective relationships with key business partners by collaborating with process managers and subject matter experts to achieve desired objectives.
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
  • 2+ years of experience working in corporate lending operations, particularly with servicing syndication facilities
  • Experience with ACBS or Loan IQ or equivalent lending systems
  • Demonstrated experience reading and understanding loan documentation
Nice-To-Have Skills:
  • Cash-reconciliation experience preferred
  • Intermediate excel skills (manipulate large volumes of data, basic formulas) preferred

  • Strong communications skills
Education:
  • University undergraduate degree in finance or business-related studies or equivalent.
Additional Notes:
  • This JP is specific to remediation projects and keeping data up to date; ACBS is the main system so understanding it is critical, understanding domain and how flow is structures is key
  • Hybrid model expected - value in candidate coming in 2+ days in office, may increase over next few months to 4 days/office
  • Level of experience: intermediate experience is ideal/not someone very junior, though JP lists 2+ years someone with 3-4+ would be ideal, but will consider all with 2+
  • Need candidates to have an in depth understanding of corporate lending operations space - servicing syndication, and understanding the Remediation of aged issues - need confidence the candidate can apply analytical thinking to contribute to the success of the project especially with short Project timelines
  • In interview, they are tested on their understanding of the corporate lending operations domain, the ability to analyze, go through a problem and arrive at solutions, as well communication and negotiation skills
  • It would be great for them to demonstrate an understanding of Excel
  • Successful candidates: show they understand the domain and will be able to answer queries and understand what due diligence is involved in working as a corporate lending analyst
  • Unsuccessful/rejected candidates have more retail focused experience and don't understand basic structure of syndicated loans - not enough corporate lending experience
  • Questions to ask candidates when screening them: understanding syndicated loans, how they function, how they would deal with the payments within syndication and if they understand the domain.
Candidate Review & Selection:
  • 1 round - 30 minute Panel video interview with HM and several other managers in the group
