Please note: Although this position is fully remote, there may be a requirement to travel to Edmonton or Calgary periodically.

The Data Technology, Governance and Strategy team provide solutions, best practices, and support to all areas of the organization with data and information flowing in and out of the credit union.

As the expert Senior Data Governance Analyst, you are an informal expert responsible for ensuring the delivery of data management capabilities and data governance artefacts as well as lead and execute the data governance practices. You lead the data governance operations and coordinate with all stakeholders to mature Servus\'s data and information assets. Because you understand the stakeholder\'s information needs, you can articulate, lead, and prioritize those needs. Managing organizing and protecting Servus\'s data assets is critical in your role; therefore, you lead the implements of tools and practices required to do so. As the expert, you are the primary expert of the governance practices.

More specifically, the scope of your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Engage with the Change Management and Communications teams to introduce new data governance capabilities or changes and updates
  • Lead the identification and onboarding of data management roles like Stewards, Owners across Servus
  • Conduct training, roadshows, lunch & learns to develop awareness of data governance and its practices
  • Monitor Data Protection controls, identify gaps and recommend solutions in collaboration with Corporate Security, Privacy, and Risk Management groups
  • Analyze data trends to ensure alignment with industry best practices and continuously improve data maintenance techniques within Servus
  • Contribute to Servus culture needs through effective communications with all stakeholders
  • Hands on experience working with technical solutions for data governance
Requirements

To qualify, you\'ll need at least the following:
  • 5+ years previous management experience with data governance or data management practices
  • Ability to work with technology configuration and creation of data quality rules
  • Experience leading a data catalogue roadmap and guiding team direction
  • Experience working in a fast-moving environment
  • Understanding of how to break down data governance activities
  • Your expertise must be:
  • Excellent communication skills \xe2\x80\x93 written, verbal & presentation
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Strong facilitation skills & negotiation skills
  • Ability to collaborate & influence stakeholders at varying levels within the organization
  • Ability to lead teams and train others
  • Candidate must be self-motivated, organized, and analytical
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Able to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Aptitude & interest to learn about the business
  • Strong time management skills
Although not required, the following experience and education/certifications are valuable assets:
  • Experience in a regulated industry, such as healthcare, finance, or government
  • Certificate in Data Management or Data Governance
