Job Description


The YWCA Westman shelters and supports women, their children, and those marginalized by gender who are escaping domestic violence. The ideal candidate for this role is a natural leader with organizational/operational abilities. This person will also have the heart of a counsellor, being caring, supportive and driven by the impact the YWCA has on the community. The individual will join the organization at a time of growth and re-development, and will be a key member of the team that will lead YWCA into the future. The purpose of this position is to effectively lead and manage a team of support
workers while also managing casework to ensure clients move through the organization with the support and resources they need for success. The Case Manager|Counsellor will also offer couples counselling services. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coach a team of Support Workers in providing appropriate services and support to clients.
  • Effectively manage a team through strong leadership abilities, managing and providing mentorship to Support Workers.
  • Provide case management support, including reviewing client case files and ensuring timely transitions through the agency service model.
  • Develop strong and positive relationships with the clientele, fostering trusting and respectful connections.
  • Maintain clear and consistent procedures to support the smooth functioning of client services.
  • Maintain current and compliant documentation and ensure the team follows suit.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely recording of statistics, responsible for overseeing monthly and annual reporting.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with outside agencies and community resources.
  • Deliver couples counselling through the Peaceful Futures Program.

  • A strong understanding of the issue of violence against women, their children and those marginalized by gender, including the types of abuse, family impact, and related historical, societal, and power issues.
  • The ability to handle crisis situations calmly.
  • The ability to approach all situations without judgement and meet people where they are.
  • The ability to provide strong leadership to a team providing crisis support to a diverse client group.
  • The ability to develop trusting bonds and relationships.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A Bachelor\'s or a Master\'s degree in the field of counselling, therapy, mental health, psychology, psychiatric nursing, social work or a related social service discipline is required.
  • An active membership in a college (ex: College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba, Manitoba College of Social Workers) or certification (ex: Registered
  • Marriage & Family Therapist, Canadian Certified Counsellor).
  • A License to deliver counselling services in Manitoba.
  • Experience working in the Family Violence sector is an asset.
  • A minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working in a leadership role.
  • Experience working in a 24/7 residential facility is an asset.
  • The strong ability to lead a team through growth and change.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • An understanding of operations and workflow.
  • Exceptional communication abilities.
  • A strong understanding and belief in the community services sector and its purpose.
Working Conditions
Physical: This position is office-based at a sit-down desk. It requires meeting clients, walking and interacting with others in the facility. It requires the ability to navigate stairs.
Mental Health: This position will be exposed to crisis situations such as witnessing adults and children in distress/crisis. Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Salary: $36.00-$40.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Benefits:
