This is a full-time permanent job opportunity working 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

The Carpenter will perform general carpentry work during construction, renovation, or repair in a residential and commercial building. This position will provide support to the Construction and Facility Services Team.

Essential Duties include but not limited to:

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements. Using measuring tools, prepare layouts in conformance to building codes. Determine and identify proper materials and material quantities for new and existing projects. Construct, install and repair wood, plywood, wallboard structures and fixtures. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof system. Comply with Manitoba Health and Safety Standards.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

Completion of a three to four-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over 4 years of work experience in trade, some high school, college, or industry courses in carpentry. Red Seal is preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:

Ability to read building specifications and blueprint. Ability to provide quality workmanship and comply with Thorwin Properties quality standards. Good understanding of safe work practices Able to move and lift 50 lbs. Attention to details and good problem-solving skills Excellent communication and teamwork skills
