The job generally encompasses two primary areas:
Carpentry/Structural Repair

General Maintenance/Guest Service

Duties
I. Carpentry and Structural Maintenance
Repair and Installation:
Construct, repair, and install wooden structures, fixtures, and finishes throughout the hotel, including:
Doors, door frames, and window frames.
Guest room and public area furniture (e.g., cabinets, tables, chairs, shelving).
Trim, molding, and baseboards.
Drywall (sheetrock) repair and patching in guest rooms and common areas.
Flooring components, such as wood floors or carpet tiles.
Custom Work:
Fabricate and/or customize specialty items like decorative fixtures, display cases, or custom furniture as required by the hotel design.
Preventative Maintenance (PM):
Inspect and perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all wooden and structural components to identify and address wear, damage, or potential hazards before they escalate.
Tools and Equipment:
Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power carpentry tools safely and effectively.
Blueprints:
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical diagrams to complete work accurately.
Qualifications
Routine and Emergency Repairs:
Respond promptly to routine work orders and emergency requests (often including after-hours/on-call rotation) concerning various building systems.
Plumbing:
Fixing minor leaks, unclogging toilets/sinks, replacing washers, or repairing faulty fixtures.
Electrical:
Replacing light bulbs, switches, outlets, or minor fixture repairs.
HVAC:
Performing minor adjustments, cleaning filters, and reporting major issues to technicians.
Painting & Finishing:
Performing touch-up painting, caulking, and surface finishing to maintain aesthetics.
Guest Interaction:
Interact with guests and hotel staff in a courteous and professional manner to resolve maintenance issues in guest rooms and public areas promptly.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all health, safety, and building codes/regulations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, work orders, repairs, and inspections, often using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Property Upkeep:
Assist with maintaining the physical structure and grounds of the hotel property, which may include tasks like exterior painting, minor landscaping upkeep, or snow removal, depending on the location and season.
