About You:
To be an ideal candidate for this role, you must have previous experience in construction and carpentry, which may include framing, renovations, restorations, or single-family housing construction. You should also enjoy learning a variety of construction tasks, including window installation, waterproofing, and installing insulation.
You prefer learning in team settings, have good communication skills, and can read and follow instructions. You have a keen eye for detail and a willingness to assist the team in process improvements that contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
You will work in a very busy, output and quality-focused team, so you must be highly adaptable and able to handle changing priorities with a positive attitude.
What you Will Do:
You will be part of a team of carpenters, helpers, and ABB Robots, working collaboratively under the guidance of the Production/Carpenter Leads and Manager, Production.
While developing your construction and carpentry skills, you will assist carpenters to refine and advance the processes used to pre-fabricate our envelope and floor cassette products. As we expand and grow, you may also be involved in assisting with the continuous development of infrastructure projects within the manufacturing facility.
You will learn to handle a range of materials, including insulation (Rockwool), membranes, windows, and various types of cladding. Depending on your assigned work area, you may assist with tasks in kitting or assembly of the product.
You will primarily work indoors, shielded from the outdoor elements most of the day.

The Responsibilities, include but not limited to:
Arrive punctually and ready for work, equipped with the necessary tools and materials to complete tasks efficiently.
Set up safety measures, including proper ladder and safety equipment setup, and adhere to all safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Learn to read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to guide work.
Develop skills in calculating material requirements, preparing the work area accordingly, and developing layouts, templates, and jigs as needed.
Learn to operate hand tools and machinery proficiently and safely.
Measure, cut, prepare, and kit various materials such as insulation, membranes, and other materials for assembly.
Assist with Installing windows accurately, ensuring proper positioning and securing within frames.
Assist with placing insulation, membranes, and various types of cladding to create envelope panels.
Assist with installing siding trim, soffit, fascia, and flashing as required.
Work effectively at various heights using ladders, scissor lifts, and other equipment as needed.
Move materials and finished products efficiently within the facility, including operating overhead cranes.
Maintain tools and equipment in optimal working condition.
Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards to ensure a safe working environment.
Follow all health and safety rules, policies, and procedures meticulously.
Collaborate effectively with others to meet project specifications and deadlines.
Update the lead carpenter on task progress and issues and seek help to find solutions as needed.
Follow instructions to ensure work meets specifications and quality standards.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve quality, and reduce waste.
Contribute actively to team efforts, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Adhere to administrative policies and procedures as updated periodically.
Complete other duties as requested which are consistent with your abilities and responsibilities.

Education & Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Nice to Haves, but can be certified on the job if needed:
Carpentry technical training, an asset
Level 1 or 2 Occupational First Aid certification
Rigging ticket
Class I forklift license

Skills & Experience, Required:
1 to 2 years of Construction experience, especially in renovations, restorations, or single-family housing construction.

Must provide your own CSA-approved 6" safety footwear, required.
Certain job tasks will require you to be clean-shaven and wear a fit-tested respirator or N95 mask
Proof of ability to remain and work in Canada.
Successful candidates may be required to submit to a background check.
We expect the hourly pay for this position to be between $23 and $25.
Subject to change, your pay will be based on market evaluation and various job-related factors, including your past work experience, relevant education and certifications (journeyman/unticketed), etc. Benefits are offered after 3 months.
