The ideal candidate will have
carpentry experience
, be physically capable of performing heavy labor, and possess a
valid driver's license
. Experience driving small U-Haul trucks is an asset, but willingness to learn quickly is equally valued. Experience with Trim work and power tools is preferred.
In this role, you will contribute to various renovation projects, including:
Finishing a basement apartment in an older home
Fence building
Exterior building repairs
Building a tree fort
Other home improvement projects throughout Central Halifax
Key Responsibilities:
Carpentry & Renovation Work:
Perform framing and finish carpentry work.
Complete demolition tasks (relatively light) as needed.
Assist with digging and adjusting dirt or rock as required in the basement or outdoors.
Transport materials to the dump.
Perform painting and other general renovation tasks.
Deliver high-quality workmanship and ensure project standards are maintained.
Work independently and efficiently, often in physically demanding conditions.
Additional Duties:
Measure and assist with floor plan creation.
Manage construction processes for assigned projects.
Create concrete forms as needed.
Restore damaged areas using plaster and wood putty to the original condition.
Install cabinets in kitchens, bathrooms, or other required areas.
Provide accurate construction estimates for materials, labor, and timelines.
Lay flooring or tiles in various patterns as required.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in carpentry, home renovations, or a related field.
Strong skills in:
Carpentry and building
Concrete forming
Restoration work
Painting and finishing
Cabinet installation
Construction estimating
Flooring or tile installation
Physically capable of performing demanding labor tasks.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with clients and team members effectively.
