The Carman is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of rail cars and their components as well as the inspection of trains upon their arrival and / or departure.Company: Huron Central Railway Inc
Work location: Based out of Sault Ste-Marie, Ontario

Salary: According to the Huron Central Railway salary gridResponsibilities:The selected candidate will perform the following functions:

• Inspects rail cars and its components in accordance with the railway and company standards.
• Perform periodical, on demand or preventative inspections on railcar structures, frame, security components and others.
• Installs and repairs railway material, such as compressors, pneumatic systems and others.
• Use of manual, electric and welding tools.
• Prepare inspection reports, for maintenance and repair, using approved spreadsheet which are in conformity to company standards.
• Assist with locomotive servicing and repair.
• Performs all other related tasks.

General Requirements:

• Must possess a high school diploma.
• Experience or a diploma in electro mechanics is an asset.
• Must possess a valid welder card (diploma in electric welding- three positions).
• Must possess a valid drivers license.
• Ability to adapt to changing situations: working hours, service calls, overtime, tasks to accomplish, outside of the work location, etc.
• Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
