Apply to work as a Care Aide today!As a Care Aide in Acute Care at Vancouver Coastal Health you will make your impact by:

• Work under the functional direction of a Registered Nurse or other designate and in cooperation with interdisciplinary team members to assist in the delivery of client care.
• Follow established care plans provides personal care; bathes, grooms, dresses, assists with meals and oral hygiene.
• Provide assistance in the delivery of nursing care; takes temperature, pulse and respiration, documents on patient\xe2\x80\x99s chart and responds to call bells/alarms.
• Observe and monitor clients\xe2\x80\x99 progress, symptoms and behavioural changes and reports significant observations.
• Utilize mechanical aides such as specialty beds, lifts, wheelchairs and stretchers to transport clients and provides assistance with positioning, lifting and/or transferring clients utilizing established lifting/safety techniques.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients and staff.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation & Experience

• Grade 10.
• Successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Eligible for registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.

Knowledge & Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively and respectfully.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to successfully complete relevant VCH education, training, and orientation.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment (including Patient Care Information Systems).
