Your Opportunity:This is an exciting opportunity within Cardiac Arrhythmia Services at the CK Hui Heart Centre. The Cardiology Technologist (CT) will utilize critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to provide exceptional care to individuals who have an implanted cardiac device. Duties include the assessment, coordination, education, administration, and evaluation of health services via a variety of platforms including in-person visits, telephone encounters, and online zoom/Teams sessions. The CT will be responsible for remote device monitoring, device interrogations, and device programming within the Cardiac Device Clinic; which may also include the Pacemaker Implant Suite as required. Working closely within the interdisciplinary team, you will participate in the establishment of standards/objectives and provide expertise in the selection and evaluation of new equipment. This role has a high level of autonomy and accountability. You will coordinate follow-up visits and testing, and provide patient/family education on devices, medications, lifestyle changes, and tests/procedures that fall within your scope of practice. The successful applicant will be encouraged to work (up to) full-time hours during the 3-6 month orientation period and once completed, there is opportunity to work additional hours within the Cardiac Arrhythmia Services program. In addition, funding opportunities within AHS exist for individuals who want to pursue, or are currently enrolled, in the BCIT Cardiac Rhythm Device Technology Event Certificate. Required Qualifications:Completion of certificate from an accredited school of Cardiology Technology. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta Society of Registered Cardiology Technologist (ASRCT). Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Current enrollment in, or completion of the BCIT Cardiac Rhythm Device Technology Event Certificate (or equivalent) required. Ability to excel in a multidisciplinary team environment with strong communication skills and flexibility required. Preferred Qualifications:Minimum three years of recent cardiology experience in a hospital setting preferred. Connect Care experience in an Ambulatory Clinic preferred. Excellent reliability and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles. Candidates may be required to write a theory exam during the interview.
