The Capital Project Engineer will plan projects and establish the criteria by which project success will be measured. They will be responsible for establishing project inspection criteria, coordinating the review of project designs and ensuring the proper implementation of project elements. The Capital Project Engineer will be a detail-oriented professional with over 5 years of experience in engineering and project management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collaborate to develop and maintain the specifications for all equipment that is required for each project
Create the framework used to develop and monitor project metrics and manage the collection of project data
Formulate realistic parameters for each project, including design elements and implementation procedures
Lead and monitor installation of equipment including establishing the methods by which new equipment is commissioned and installed
Develop and manage project timelines and budgets
Support efforts to ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are in place to sustain processes
Contacting and liaising with outside suppliers and vendors to source information and quotes for new equipment and parts
For projects and equipment installation:
o Perform conceptual process design
o Develop equipment specifications and standards
o Develop FAT Documents and Participate in FAT & Commissioning Processes
Oversee and manage construction contractors and associated construction work
o Manage contractor compliance to safety, GMP, and good workmanship practices
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Conduct all Job Tasks in a Safe and Responsible manner
Participate in all Health and Safety, GMP and HACCP training as required
Report any accidents, incidents and unsafe/hazardous conditions to your Manager
Report any damages of property and machinery to your Manager
Ensure that you understand how and when to use the Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) that is located in your work area
Ensure you comply with OHSA, WSIB, MOL regulations and/or laws that govern "workers" responsibilities in the workplace (covered during orientation - section 28 of the OHSA i.e. "Green Book") and Comply with Tradition Fine Foods Ltd. Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices, and HACCP Programs
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Degree in Engineering or a related field
Preferably 5-10 years relevant experience in managing capital projects in a manufacturing environment
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Ability to multi-task and prioritize on a regular basis
Ability to interact well with vendors, contractors and colleagues
