Reporting to the Director of Oncology, Palliative Care and Benign Hematology, the Cancer Data Consultant will perform analyses, assessment, reporting and communication on the quality of various data holdings, including but not restricted to the Ontario Health Cancer Care Ontario (OH-CCO).
Encompass technical aspects of workflow design and data integration in order to ensure structural, functional and efficient outcomes
Ensure that Osler is able to meet the mandated submission requirements and the applicable timelines for QBP Systemic Therapy, Day 1 Transplants & all Complex Hematology Therapies
Collaborate with internal stakeholders in the Oncology Program and other cancer care services including Oncologists/Hematologists, Oncology Managers, Resources Nurses, Allied Health, Organizational Performance and Clinic Staff.
Analyze clinic data as it relates for reporting and workflow, provide daily/weekly/Monthly and ad-hoc reports to Management/Oncologists/Clinic Team members. Be accountable for collection, correction, reporting and analysis of data uploaded daily to the OH-CCO
Development and execution of complex SQL (structured query language) scripts. Development and maintenance of automated custom reports (cancellations, oncology clinic lists, wait times). Work closely with developers and end users to resolve issues. Act as liaison between end user and Information systems for all oncology applications; Liaison with CCO
Accountabilities:
Act as a liaison and single point of contact between OH-CCO and the organization for issues related to oncology data holdings. Communicating and collaborating with the MH/CW (Mississauga Halton, Central West) Informatics Group on CCO's ALR Databook changes and ongoing cancer data projects.
Prepare monthly and quarterly ALR submissions including pre-submission audits and test environment submissions. Establish new or changed data capture process reporting. Provide Decision Support and the LHIN with monthly key indicators to update program scorecard, and participate in LHIN wait time meetings to provide expert support
Assumes responsibility and accountability for the data quality related to these submissions:
+ Develop standardized processes and systems to ensure accurate data capture, validation and transmission to CCO. Apply data audit control procedures to ensure data received from sources is captured accurately
+ Provide support to address data quality issues and plan for future improvement
+ Formulate recommendations for continued improvement of data holdings
+ Evaluate and analyze the overall quality of specific data holdings
+ Provide methodological support to assist with special data quality studies Liaison of clinicians within the oncology area with IT: participation in monthly meetings with IT, work with the health informatics team
Review the range of data collection approaches and recommend the most appropriate approach and system for the oncology program
Document reporting processes
Collaborate with Organizational Performance to generate reports for hospital leadership
Prepare data analysis on a regular basis to inform the organization on the metrics and for the oncology program planning and development
Write complex queries designed to gather information from a variety of different sources as required
Prepare routine and ad hoc reports
Member of the oncology leadership meeting and oncology projects
Ability to collate and re-configure data from multiple sources
Ability to thoroughly review a patient medical record and apply relevant ICD-10-CA diagnoses
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a related field such as Business administration, Health care Administration, or a Health Profession
Minimum experience of 3+ years with proficient
Knowledge of CCO data quality and reporting processes
Knowledge of CCO Activity Level Reporting
Knowledge of computerized/electronic systems involved in patient care
Advanced experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Access and Excel)
Meditech / EPIC knowledge
Experience in data mapping documents
Knowledge of evidence-based patient care, guidelines and Provincial Drug Reimbursement Programs
Knowledge of ICD-10-CA (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Canada)
Technical analytical tools such as database in SQL are required for the successful candidate. Required to extract, run queries and submit ad-hoc reports at least 70% of time. A solid knowledge and experience of working on large databases
Clear understanding of statistical analysis (university level) is required to provide management with accurate details to make an informed decisions
Broad knowledge of CCO data quality and reporting process
Broad knowledge of CCO activity level reporting
Specific technical skills related to Microsoft Office Suite, Meditech, EPIC and computerized/electronic systems
Knowledge of evidence-based patient care, guidelines and Provincial Drug Reimbursement Programs
Knowledge of ICD-10-CA (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Canada)

Additional Information
Hours: Currently Monday to Friday, 8 hours (days) and may include weekends and statutory holidays according to the needs of the program (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
Salary Information:
Min: $88,413.00 annually
Max: $110,526.00 annually
