The National Arts Centre (NAC) is Canada's bilingual, multi-disciplinary home for the performing arts. The NAC presents, creates, produces, and co-produces performing arts programming in various streams-the NAC Orchestra, Dance, English Theatre, French Theatre, Indigenous Theatre, and Popular Music and Variety-and nurtures the next generation of audiences and artists from across Canada. The NAC is located in the National Capital Region on the unceded territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation.

Full-time from June 1, 2026 to August 28, 2026. Part-time from March - June, 2026 to participate in the recruitment of Camp Leaders and camper registration process

Job Reports To:


Producer, Public Spaces & Summer Programming



Key Activities


Working with the Associate Producer to create, manage, and present a minimum of six weekly creative-based day camp programs for children aged 5 to 11 years old in both French and English. There will be 20 children participating per week; Engage and contract artists to perform or participate in the camps if required; Mentor summer students in the role of Camp Leaders, giving them experience working in a creative educational environment; Perform administrative tasks including but not limited to: scheduling, planning meals and snacks, communicating with parents; Write internal reports regarding Public Spaces programming as required by Corporate Communications, the Foundation, or other departments at the NAC; Complete a Program report and update program manual at the end of the summer.

Skill Requirements


A post-secondary degree in Education, Sports Management or related field or equivalent education and experience as an Educator and/or within the Camping industry; 3-5 years experience as a Program Director within the Camping industry; A minimum of 5 years supervisory experience managing summer camps and/or teams of leaders/instructors; Minimum five (5) years experience working with children in a creative and/or educational setting required; Minimum three (3) years in a management position with direct reports Creative practice or artistic background is an asset; Superior attention to details; Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal); Ability to exercise sound judgement and work independently; Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with multiple stakeholders; Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and teams to deliver on organization-wide programs and priorities; Must be competent with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook); Experience working with unionized staff is an asset; Bilingual in both official languages required; Current Standard First Aid & CPR-B or C certification; Ideally available in March, 2026 on a part time basis to hire Camp Leaders and to assist with portions of the camper registration process; Clear Criminal Reference Check for Vulnerable Sector.
