This is a summer student position. All applicants must provide confirmation of full time student status in current academic year and/or acceptance into full time studies the following September 2026.



Basic Function:




Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor or Coordinator, Camps Program Coordinators - Inclusion will assist in the operation, delivery and evaluation of the Town of Oakville Summer Camp Inclusion Programs and provide supervision and leadership to the Senior Leaders and Inclusion Support Workers who support campers with exceptionalities.

Responsibilities:



Majority of responsibility is administrative work including but not limited to program planning / supervision, staff and volunteer supervision. Train, supervise, guide and evaluate the Senior Leader, Inclusion Support Workers, and Playleaders in their program planning capacity and its implementation for program participants. Support the objectives and philosophies of the camps as established by the Recreation and Culture department. Adhere to department prescribed policies and procedures. Support and promote the HIGH FIVE "Principles of Healthy Child Development" (PHCD). Follow and implement all Health and Safety regulations, and public health guidelines. Facilitate inclusion support participant intakes and applicable communication plans to full-time staff and Inclusion Support Workers. Provide guidance to staff for behaviour management and program modifications to support inclusion participants.

Specific Duties:



Attend all mandatory staff functions from May- September 2026 including but not limited to; Playleader/Inclusion Support Worker interviews, training, scheduled shifts, staff meetings, site clean ups and all allocated program times. Assist with planning and facilitating training for Senior Leaders, and Playleaders. Arrive at the program site well in advance of the start of the program day to ensure the site and staff are ready for the day's activities and that programs start on time. In the absence of full-time staff take the lead role during any emergency or critical incident that may occur. Meet with the Recreation/Culture Supervisor and/or Coordinator at regularly scheduled times. Meet with the Senior Leader, at a regularly scheduled times and assist them, when necessary, with program quality assurance issues. Ensure the continuing safety of all participants and staff while at the program and document all accidents/incidents immediately. Observe and record staff performance in collaboration with full-time staff. Supervise with regularity and evaluate the program design and delivery to ensure they are upholding department programs policies, procedures, standards and safety and the HIGH FIVE principles of healthy child development. Resolve major emergencies, incidents, behaviour and conduct issues, beyond the scope of the Senior Leader's function, of staff and participants, in accordance to acceptable procedures. Coordinate the distribution of all necessary program materials and supplies and pertinent information to staff and act as a knowledgeable subject matter expert and resource for them. Develop and maintain a positive rapport with town facility staff and the community at large. Ensure that all persons attending are properly registered and recorded on class lists and necessary medical information and emergency contact names are correct and available. Attend all mandatory staff functions: training, staff meetings and site clean-ups and all allocated program times Conduct a weekly area meeting with the support of the full-time Recreation/Culture Supervisor or Coordinator. Immediately notify the full-time Recreation/Culture Supervisor or Coordinator of any problem(s) and/or recommendations regarding staff, participants, parents, facilities or contract services which may affect the program. In collaboration with the on-site Senior Leader, prepare and present staff performance evaluations. Ensure all administrative work including vehicle circle checks and a formal year-end report are completed in a timely and professional manner and submitted to the full-time Recreation/Culture Supervisor or Coordinator. Any other duties that may be assigned by the full-time Recreation/Culture Supervisor or Coordinator.

Qualifications and Skills:



Current (within 3 years of the date of issue) Standard First Aid with CPR C Certificate from a WSIB approved agency valid until at least September 5, 2026. Crisis Prevention intervention (CPI) is considered an asset Behaviour Management Systems Training (BMS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment. HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) Certification (see below for more information). Produce a satisfactory Criminal Reference Check (CRC) including vulnerable sector screening, dated within 30 days of hire. All applicants must provide confirmation of full-time student status in current academic year and/or acceptance into full time studies the following September 2026. HIGH FIVE QUEST 2 or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Formal education or training in the studies of children and/or youth (children's studies, youth studies, psychology, teaching, recreation therapy, behaviour therapy and/or other related social sciences) is considered an asset. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory ability. Good communication and administrative skills. Strong problem solving and effective program planning skills. Highly organized, able to multitask with a high attention to detail, and able to prioritize tasks. Able to problem solve effectively in a timely manner and provide alternatives for program materials. Have a thorough knowledge of all program plans, and their daily implementation to coordinate supplies and facility requirements. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Swimming and comfort in the water is an asset. Previous work experience with children with disabilities, experience with one-on-one support (feeding, changing, toileting, etc.) and behaviour management are an asset. Knowledge of program adaptations and behaviour modification techniques. Must hold and provide a copy of a valid and unrestricted Ontario Driver's License Class G2 minimum with a driving record that demonstrates responsible and safe driving behaviour or reliable means of transportation. + Note: Applicants with 6 or more points are ineligible for consideration.
+ Successful applicants will be required to provide the Corporation with a current drivers abstract (no older than 30 days)
+ Ability to pass a Town administered road test as a condition of employment.
Demonstrated child management ability and experience working with persons with disabilities. Strong problem solving and effective program planning skills.
