CCH Kitchen Staff, Cook & Kitchen Lead (Defined Term, Contract)

Camp Chief Hector YMCA (Exshaw, Alberta)

Salary: $17.40/hr - $19.00/hr (Affordable Room & Board included)

Winter Start Date: Immediately


Summer Start Date: April 28th, 2025

End Date: August 30th, 2025 (possibility of extension for the fall/winter season)



• Successful candidate will work 40 hours/week.

What qualifications are we looking for?


At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;



• Previous experience in banquet and large volume kitchens or line cooking;



• Experience working with children and youth



• Strong communication skills



• A positive attitude and positive teamwork experience



• A love for the outdoors and the Rocky Mountains!



• Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.



• Food Safe Certification (or willing to obtain with us)



• Clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search;

Duties and Responsibilities include



• Help with preparing nutritious and delicious food, including for people with dietary restrictions



• Ensure timely preparation of meals, and adequate storage of all food and supplies



• Support a positive kitchen culture and respectful workplace



• Support Camp Chief Hector YMCA risk management rules and guidelines



• Work as an active and positive member of the Camp Chief Hector YMCA staff team



• Cater to a high-end demographic with events such as weddings, conferences and retreats



• Ensure the kitchen is held at a high standard of sanitation and cleanliness



• Assist in the production of baked goods



• Ensure food waste is kept to a minimum



• Model and support the values of Camp Chief Hector YMCA and YMCA Calgary
