Cambrian College's Student Life Department has an immediate requirement for a Cambrian Indigenous Student Circle (CISC) E-Naabiisjeget (Mentor) on a regular part time, 24 hours a week basis
Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Student Life, the incumbent will act as a stable source of guidance, and support for the Cambrian Indigenous Student Circle (The Circle), a self-determining student governing body, whose membership changes every year. They will also:
Oversee the development and implementation of onboarding procedures, providing dedicated training and mentorship that ensures the continuity of knowledge by documenting operational processes and institutional memory
Facilitate regular meetings to track progress and support collaboration, guiding the group in the use of their established consensus-based protocols
Guide the Circle in the student-led development of a strategic, year-long calendar of programs and events ensuring all initiatives are culturally relevant, inclusive and responsive to the holistic needs of Indigenous students
Oversee the successful execution of all programs, taking the lead on logistical components and handling all administrative and accounting tasks related to program and event delivery
Act as steward of the Circle's history and decisions by overseeing the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records of Circle gatherings, key decisions and initiatives
Create and manage project timelines and workback schedules to ensure clarity and accountability for all initiatives
In partnership with the Circle's E-Niigaanzid (Leader) and the Manager of Student Life, contribute to the strategic development of the annual operating budget, and monitor and report on budget usage to ensure effective allocation of funds and materials
Act as the key liaison with the college's finance and procurement offices to ensure all contractual and financial processes are seamless and compliant
Qualifications

Required:
Must have a minimum of a 2-Year Diploma in field such as Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Public Administration or a related field. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application) Must have 2 years' experience in a position which will provide the essential skills and abilities to fulfil the requirements of this role.
Must have a connection to Northern Ontario Indigenous communities and a strong understanding of FNMI culture (e.g Anishnaabe culture)
Must have lived experience as a member of an Indigenous community
Must have specialized knowledge of Indigenous governance models (e.g consensus-based decision making) and demonstrated competency in restorative practices
Must have experience with leadership development, program development and budget management
Assets/Preferred:
A specialization or focus on Indigenous relations, governance, or community development
The following professional certificates are highly desirable:
+ Certification in Mediation,
+ Conflict Resolution, or Restorative Justice Practices
+ Training in Mental Health First Aid, and Training in Trauma-Informed Practice
Having skills in the following areas would also be highly desirable; cultural fluency, advanced group facilitation, cross-cultural navigation, software proficiency, and community development

Examples include membership / citizenship cards or letters of confirmation or support from Indigenous Nations.
