In your role you will work closely with the company owner and leadership team in guiding staff in efficient and successful daily operations of your location.
Cafe/Bar Daily Operations:
Managing the cafe/bar while on shift; being an exceptional leader to your team
Scheduling staff and managing labour
Preparing and serving coffee, food and drinks, clearing tables, washing dishes - getting dirty and leading by example
Creating a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment for staff and customers
Managing stock, inventory and ordering so we can continue to make our customers happy
Administrative Operations:
Financial Management - meeting or exceeding set budgets
Community Engagement - Active involvement in community events, building positive relationships in the neighborhood.
Social Purpose - considering environmental and social impact when making decisions for the store.
Communication - professional, respectful, and prompt communication with all team members, suppliers, and stakeholders.
Detailed Duty List:
Hiring, firing and discipline
Providing all team members with fulsome basic training following Forecast Training Program
Ongoing development plans for team skill improvement and regular one-on-one meetings with team
Quarterly all-hands staff meeting
Creating profitable weekly schedules (weekly)
Approving vacation and time off requests according to business needs
Bank reconciliations and cash drops (every 2 weeks)
Cash tips (weekly or every 2 weeks)
Approving hours and tip reports (weekly Monday)
Perform Cafe Health Check (weekly)
Monitoring / adjusting weekly task list and delegating to team to ensure everything on list gets done to appropriate level
Reporting maintenance issues and booking service according to schedules or needs
Weekly inventory to assist with accurate ordering (orders Monday and Thursday)
Receiving orders, checking for accuracy and entering to Yellow Dog system
Month end inventory (last week of month)
Managing regular communication to the team
Manage in-store events program by meeting with event leaders, planning operations and bringing event ideas to life
Maintain a record keeping procedure for all certification and licenses
Weekly all-hand Manager meeting - collate data and bring ideas and issues to solve
Identify areas of improvement and bring to Leadership to discuss and resolve
The ideal candidate:
Minimum 2-years previous experience in a similar role at manager level
Experience in high volume cafe
Proven track record delivering on key KPI's- Managing labour cost & food cost.
Barista training and experience - passion, knowledge and understanding of coffee, roasting processes and origin
Strong knowledge & previous experience using Microsoft Office suite
Understanding of POS and inventory management software (including conducting inventory counts and managing inventory)
Food Safe Level 1 (or higher)
Serve-it-Right Certificate
