Overlooking iconic fishing boats, Margaret's is a cozy East Coast cafe serving freshly brewed coffee and tea, Maritime inspired baked goods, seafood chowder, and delicious gourmet paninis.
Margaret's Cafe is seeking enthusiastic, reliable, hardworking, passionate, creative, and detail-oriented supervisors to lead the team in creating welcoming and memorable maritime experiences for our guests and visitors, while maintaining a clean and organized space. The ideal candidates will have a passion for coffee, proven leadership ability, an interest in gaining new skills, and the ability to work in a positive fast-paced environment. This individual will report directly to the Cafe Manager.
Required Skills/Knowledge
Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Previous experience in a cafe or restaurant setting, preferably in a supervisory or management role.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Basic knowledge of point-of-sale cash systems.
Understanding of health and safety regulations as it pertains to food service.
Capacity to work as an individual and as part of a team.
Must be comfortable engaging with diverse groups of people.
Basic knowledge and history of the local community and popular gathering places or willingness to learn.
Ability and willingness to work any assignment, including duties not listed within the scope of this job description.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time, and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
What You'll Do:
Staff Supervision and Training:
Lead, motivate and train a team of cafe staff, ensuring they provide excellent service, maintain proper food and beverage standards, and adhere to health and safety protocols.
Customer Service:
Provide outstanding service by addressing customer inquiries, resolving concerns, and ensuring a positive experience for all. Act as a point of contact for customer issues or feedback.
Quality Control:
Ensure the baristas maintain a high standard of product quality and consistency in serving food and beverages. Perform quality checks on presentation, food safety, and service.
Operations & Inventory Management
Oversee daily operations of the cafe, including opening and closing procedures, assisting the cafe manager with; managing inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring adequate stock levels. Perform routine inventory checks to minimize waste while maintaining efficiency.
Cash Handling and Reporting:
Supervise cash handling procedures, including opening and closing registers, ensuring accurate till counts, and reconciling daily sales reports. Assist with managing budgets and tracking sales performance.
Team Collaboration & Communication
Foster a positive work environment by encouraging teamwork, effective communication, and resolving conflicts in a professional manner.
Promotions & Marketing:
Willingness to take part in social media marketing to help promote brand recognition. Engage with customers to gather feedback and relay feedback to management and the team to help with team and cafe development.
Health & Safety:
Ensure the cafe operates in compliance with all health and safety regulations, including food safety standards and cleanliness. Oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of the cafe environment.
Open to shift opportunities across any property within Six by The Sea.
Throughout the season there may be opportunities to take on new roles within our additional properties. The ideal candidate would be open to taking on new challenges as they arise.
